USH's Strategic Resources Division has secured ISO 14001 environmental management certification at a second operational site, ahead of schedule.
UsH Industries' Strategic Resources Division has achieved ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system certification at a second operational mining site in Africa, completing the certification six months ahead of the originally committed schedule.
ISO 14001 is the internationally recognized standard for environmental management systems. Certification demonstrates that an organization has implemented a systematic framework to manage its environmental impacts, set improvement targets, and continuously monitor and reduce its ecological footprint.
For a mining operation, this encompasses water management, tailings handling, land rehabilitation planning, dust and emissions monitoring, and community environmental health protocols. Certification is awarded only after successful independent third-party audit.
"Responsible extraction is not a constraint on our business model it is part of it. The communities and ecosystems we operate within are not externalities. They are stakeholders."
With this certification, USH now holds ISO 14001 at two of its four directly operated mining sites. Certification programs are underway at the remaining two sites, targeting completion by Q3 2025 putting the group on track to achieve 100% certification coverage ahead of its 2025 ESG commitment.
